Obituary of Gloria J. Carey

Gloria J. Carey, 67, of 2173 Brooks Street Ashville, passed away Sunday April 15, 2018 in her home. She was born May 12, 1950 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Henry and Lillian Burkhart Blood. For many years, Gloria worked as a personal care aide with Chautauqua Opportunities and Accredited Care. She was an active member of the Ashville Fire Department Auxiliary for over 30 years. She was also active with the Ashville United Methodist Church and their food pantry as well as the Lakewood Baptist Church and their AWANA program, and the Red Hatters and Seniors group. Surviving are three children: Lance Carey of Jamestown; Robin Carey of Jacksonville, FL; Jordan Carey of Ashville; two grandchildren: Tizzapora Rissel and Cope Rissel; her first great grandchild on the way; and a brother: Richard LaBarron. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel at Sunset Hill Cemetery. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the Ashville Fire Department in Stow. The Rev. Dan Cook will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
