Obituary of Gordon W. Caster

Gordon Winifred Caster, 83 of Jamestown, NY died Tuesday May 1, 2018 at UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital. He was born in Oswego, NY on June 17, 1934. Here his parents Galen and Aletha Caster raised their family of three children. Gordon graduated from Emmanuel Missionary College Academy in Berrien Springs, MI. He later studied at Emmanuel Missionary College in Berrien Springs, MI. He met his wife Severne following college while serving as a White Coat in the US Army at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC. Jamestown, NY became their home in 1966. Gordon continued his family business as a well driller and CEO of Caster Well Drilling. Gordon was a member of Jamestown Seventh-day Adventist Church for many years. Here he served as a head deacon, church board member and youth Sabbath school leader. Boating, water skiing, snow skiing, snowmobiling, scuba diving, and camping were some of Gordon's passions. He had a talent for fabricating steel into useful tools and equipment for the business. Gordon enjoyed communing with God by growing fruits and vegetables in his garden and keeping his large yard manicured. Survivors include, daughter Coleen R. Caster of Nahant, MA, sons Pernell L. Caster (Cathy) of Frewsburg, NY, and Trent G. Caster (Susan) of Ashville, NY. Gordon was "Papa" to Jonas (15 years), Grady (8 years), and Isabella (6 years). Also surviving is his brother Donald Caster of California. In addition to his wife Severne, Gordon was preceded in death by his sister Beverly Bonnier of Wisconsin. Guests will be received from 1 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM on Sunday May 6, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Funeral will be held at 10 AM Monday May 7, in the Jamestown Seventh-day Adventist Church, 130 McDaniel Avenue, Jamestown, NY. A military burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg, NY.
