I have nothing but fond memories of Brad all thru school at Spencer Van Etten.
My earliest, lasting memory of Brad is when at a Cub Scout meeting we went out back of Jeff Smith's mom's house in Spencer to "play with bugs." Brad had a centipede climbing all over his hand and he was barrel laughing about it. I stared in amazement wondering if he would be bitten. I hope the family enjoys this little story. He was always happy and uplifting.
Brad accomplished a lot in his shortened life with Truck-Lite.
He stopped by our house in Valirco [Tampa] FL, around 2006 for a visit while in town for a conference. It was good to catch up with him. We moved to Las Vegas in 2008.
I'm truly sorry for your loss. Take solace in that Brad is no longer suffering.

Dear Becky,
We were just devastated to learn of Brad’s passing. He was a larger than life guy-such a smiling, personable, absolutely wonderful person, who always seemed to have an adorable glint in his eyes! What a cruel irony that with all his dedication to LINKS, he should get cancer himself. We will certainly honor his life with a donation. Time isn’t going to heal you for a while, Becky. And the second six months may be worse... But eventually, the anguish and the pain will dull just a bit, and from then on you’ll begin to feel whole again. I am SO SORRY for you and your family. Brad was SO SPECIAL.
May God bless you with peace,
Betsy

I’m shocked and saddened hearing of Brad’s passing. He was a true professional in all that he did. I learned from him from the first time meeting at Truck-Lite while I was an application engineer supporting electrical component sales to Truck-Lite. I conintuned to learn from him and to get to know him during involvement in SAE & TMC. Brad was a tremendous help to me in “learning the ropes” in those organizations.
It is good to know he was so loved and had faith in God. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Dear Becky, you don't know me, my name is Kathy Whitmore, I live on Herrick Road. Dave Conroe just told me about Brad, I never met you or your husband, I didn't even know his name, but I would see your husband every morning walking the dog on my way to work, he would always wave and smile, it would brighten my day. I would say to myself, what a nice man. Then I didn't see him and I would see you walking the dog, I just thought maybe he had to leave earlier for work, I did not know he was sick. I am so sorry. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Love, Kathy Whitmore

Becky and family,
There are no words that can possibly be said to ease the great loss you and your family are feeling. My relationship with Brad was that of a competitor, however, he was always the perfect gentleman, friend. leader and mentor to all he met. He always took the time to smile and welcome new people in our industry and never held back sharing his incredible knowledge and devotion to making the world a better and safer place. He will be greatly missed by so very many people. I hope there is some comfort in knowing what an amazing impact he has had on so very many people's lives. TSEI, TMC, SAE and so many other industry event will never be the same without his smiling face and endless knowledge. We wish you peace to bring you comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart.
With deepest Sympathy,
Clint and Kristen Goodson

There never seem to ever be any good words that come easy to convey feelings and condolences to everyone in times like this. My sincerest and deepest prayer and condolences to all the family and friends.
I am honored to have been able to spend time with Brad and call him a friend. All starting through TMC and working together. A true selfless person, always a kind word, he met you with handshake and a smile. A calm and great presence each and every time.
The world will be a much lesser place without him being here. However I can say the world is a much greater place for having had Brad in it. A true pleasure and honor to have had the chance to have crossed paths in life with such a great person. Thank you Brad and to the family for sharing him with all of us.

I met Brad through the SAE. Brad was always very welcoming to new members and quick to offer assistance whenever he saw the need. My wife and I also had the pleasure of exploring many new cities with Brad and Becky when we traveled to various industry events. Brad would often act as our private tour guide due to his extensive travels which we all appreciated. He will be greatly missed and long remembered. Brad and his family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

When I joined SoundOff Signal 13 years ago Brad was one of my early industry contacts. While we were arms-length competitors he had actually recommended our company membership in TSEI as he thought this could strengthen our company and help keep us abreast of lighting issues.
I was always impressed with his dedication to safety and lighting and the professional and knowledge based approach that he exhibited. I counted him a valuable resource, an industry friend and trusted his viewpoints.
While he will be dearly missed he leaves a valuable legacy and memory.
I am thankful that you shared his faith with us. It is gratifying to know he is now in the loving arms of Jesus.

Dear Van Riper Family,
While we were brought together by fate, Brad was well-coming in my visit with him 3 years ago and followup calls. He encouraged me to work with others while also promoting Truck-Lite services. I was made aware of his passing by a NHTSA official today.
We are saddened in our loss of a true leader in our Industry, and pray for the Van Riper Family as they grieve for Brad.
May he rest in peace.

To Becky and the Van Riper family, my deepest condolences to all. Brad was a long time mentor to me at SAE and TSEI industry groups. Brad was always willing to help in any way he could and always had input and ideas for our committee. We enjoyed talking about sports, his family, my family and the latest craziest item that was hitting the internet. I will really miss his presence at our industry meetings.
God bless you Brad.

I met Brad several years ago at TruckLite during various activities as we grew being the distributor in Mexico.
Brad was always of great help to our company, by giving us advises on how to technical offer a better light solution to the market.
He was also key in the development of the illumination standard for vehicles in Mexico.
My condolences to his family and his co-workers.

I did not know Brad well but met him many times at industry events over the last 10 years. He was a fantastic gentlemen and was always welcoming and encouraging to me as a new/young attendee.
His contributions and energy will be missed but more than that the lack of his positive attitude and uplifting personality is a true loss.
Sorry to hear of your loss; I am glad I had the opportunity to meet him.
