Obituary of Robert E. Brown
Robert E. Brown, 91, of 1 High St. Jamestown, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, May 4, 2018, in the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, NY.
A lifelong area resident, he was born March 10, 1927 in Randolph, NY, a son of the late Lue Lee and Elphild Jonson Brown.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from August 11, 1945 to January 29, 1947, serving with the 2nd Radio Squadron, Mobile G, during World War II. During his tour of duty he received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal.
Before his retirement in 1992, he worked for many years as a union plumber and steamfitter for the U.A. Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 22, Orchard Park, NY.
He will be remembered as a loving, caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. For most of his life he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed gardening, camping, game nights, cookouts and "cookin wood". He was also the champion horseshoe and cornhole player in the family. His greatest passion was spending time with family and helping everyone that he loved.
Surviving are his three children; Kevin (Carol) Brown of Ashville, NY, Diana (Stephen) Felling of Valparaiso, IN, Laurie (William) Smith of Jamestown, NY, twelve grandchildren; Rob Brown of Jamestown, Shannon Stevens of Sherman, NY, Ericka Brown of Jamestown, Emelee (Dan) Johnson of Ashville, NY, Shawna (Keith) Kohlbacher of Jamestown, Charles Cirrito of Buffalo, NY, Steven Cirrito of Jamestown, Joshua Brown of Erie, PA, Caleb Brown of Sinclairville, NY, Seth Fellling of Chicago, IL, Jacob Felling of Valparaiso, IN, Sara Smith of Jamestown, many great grandchildren and two sisters; Dorothy Batterson of Niagara Falls, NY, Kate Galbraith of Randolph, NY.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Frances Etta Waite Brown whom he married December 27, 1949 and who died February 5, 2003, a son, Kihm Brown and three brothers: Walter "Bill" Brown, George Brown and Ronald Brown.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Gerald Haglund will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
