Obituary of Ardith P. Schuckers
Surrounded by her children and grandchildren, Ardith P. Schuckers, 84, passed peacefully at her home the morning of May 9, 2018. A life-long resident of Chautauqua County, Ardy is a daughter of Harold B. and Edith Abbey Parsons, and was one of 14 children.
She is survived by her children: Dr. Amy Cuhel-Schuckers (Rostislav Cuhel, Mountville, Pa.), Julie Erickson (Anthony DeJosia, Port St. Lucie, Fla.), Trudy (David) Foster (Thornton, Colo), Paul John Schuckers (Darlene Spindler; Frewsburg, N.Y.), Jeanette (Roberto) Hernandez (Fountain, Colo.), and Laurie Wilcox Schuckers (West Ellicott, N.Y.). She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Julie (Aaron) Roe (Deerfield Beach, Fla.), Michelle (Jason) Yagow (Thornton, Colo.), Jill Erickson (N. Palm Beach, Fla.), Mark Foster (Thornton, Colo.), Kasandra Hernandez (Colorado Springs, Colo), Sgt. Joseph (Isabel) Hernandez (Ft. Huachuca, Ariz.), Teresa Walker (Robert Hoch Jr., Jamestown, NY), Amra Cuhel (Lancaster, Pa.), and Myava (Corey) Thibault- Cuhel (Lancaster, Pa.); and by eight great-grandchildren: Aaron Roe Jr., Wyatt Roe, Ellie Roe, Areesa Garcia, Elena Garcia, Madeline Gordon, Elias Lincoln Walker and Delaney Yagow. Ardy is additionally survived by her brother, the Rev. Jackson H. (Audrey) Parsons (Midlothian, Va.); sisters: Pauline Bell (Waleska, Ga.) and Eva Baker (Falconer, N.Y.), sisters-in-law Delores Parsons (Jamestown, N.Y.) and Cindy Parsons (Kennedy, N.Y.); and countless nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A graduate of Frewsburg High School, Ardy was pre-deceased by her parents; her son, Joseph A. Schuckers; seven brothers: James Parsons, Glenn Parsons, Harold Parsons, Howard Parsons, Floyd Parsons, P. Jerry Parsons, and John Parsons; and three sisters: Mary (Bruce) Johnson, Edith (Clayton) Seekins and Donna (Theodore) Clark).
Ardy was a member of the Jamestown Eagles, Falconer Moose and Falconer American Legion Auxiliaries. She worked at Marlin-Rockwell (now SKF) for 33 years, retiring in 1998, as a bearings inspector. She enjoyed playing poker, was an avid classics bowler and golfer in her day, had been a volunteer at CV Bush School, and in recent years volunteered regularly at the American Red Cross in Jamestown.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Ardy was generous in her support of her family, enjoyed a well-lived life, and was a woman greatly honored by family and friends.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 2 p.m., at Lind Funeral Home in Jamestown, N.Y. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018, at the funeral home. After the funeral, friends and family are invited to the Jamestown Eagles Club on 4thStreet, Jamestown, at 4-6 p.m. for fellowship and sharing.
Memorials in Ardy's name may be made to the Roswell Park Cancer Center in Buffalo, N.Y., or to the American Red Cross.
