Obituary of William C. Haenggi
William C. "Bill" Haenggi, 81, of Lakewood, went to be with his Lord Monday May 14, 2018 at UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital.
Bill was born January 21, 1937 in Buffalo, NY the son of the late Charles R. and Luella Thomas Haenggi.
He was a 1954 graduate of Cleveland Hill High School. He worked at F. C. Sommerfeldt Realty in Orchard Park for over 20 years and then at the Buffalo Cemetery. After moving to Lakewood, Bill was Manager of Sunset Hill Cemetery for many years prior to retirement.
He was a member of Tyrian Lodge # 925 F & AM in Cheektowaga, NY; Bethel Lutheran Church in Jamestown; and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. Bill was a former president of the Resource Center board and served on many committees. He and his wife Donna led a Bible study for the developmentally disabled for many years.
Bill enjoyed fishing, gardening, boating, and following the Buffalo Bills.
Surviving are his wife Donna Senft Haenggi with whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary May 31, 2018; a daughter: Beth (Robert) Flynn of West Seneca, NY; two sons: James W. Haenggi of Lakewood; Peter (Erica) Haenggi of Seattle, Washington; two grandchildren: Rebecca (David) Pattillo of South Bend, IN; Courtney Flynn (fiancé Mark Macadlo) of Baltimore, MD; a sister in law: Deborah Haenggi; a brother in law: Carl F. Senft Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Joyce (Joel) Hittleman; and two brothers: Richard R. (Roberta) Haenggi and Robert L. Haenggi.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt and the Rev. Alan W. Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (today) in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, 904 West 3rd Street, Jamestown, NY 14701; or the Resource Center Memorial Program, 200 Dunham Ave., Jamestown, NY 14701.
