Obituary of Robert M. Karbacka
Robert M. Karbacka, 74, of 143 Buffalo St., died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in his home. He was the husband of Nina Russo Karbacka.
Bob was born December 11, 1943 in Ashtabula, Ohio, a son of the late Martin and Betty Mallory Karbacka, and was a 1962 graduate of Edgewood High School in Ashtabula. He then served in the US Navy from 1964 to 1966 aboard the flagship USS Springfield.
For 28 years, Bob worked as building inspector for the City of Jamestown. Following retirement, he did painting work with several area painting contractors and for friends.
He enjoyed kayaking, hiking, cross-country skiing , snow shoeing and especially travel. He also volunteered for the Jamestown Audubon Society and Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy.
Bob was always very supportive of and attended all of his wife, Nina's and daughter, Marie's musical performances and concerts throughout the years.
In addition to his wife, Nina, whom he married in 1975, surviving is their daughter Marie Karbacka and her fiancé, Chris Meger of Jamestown; and a brother, Jamie Karbacka of Ashtabula, Ohio.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
