Obituary of David C. Shepard

David C. "Doc" Shepard, 94, of 141 Federal Place, formerly of Dutch Hollow Road, died Monday May 28, 2018 in Westfield Memorial Hospital. He was born April 24, 1924 in Jamestown the son of the late Earl D. and Minnie Strawberg Shepard. David was a WWII veteran, serving in the United States Coast Guard. Prior to retirement, he worked as a Lab Technician for 35 years at the Jamestown BPU. Following retirement, he drove bus for Laidlaw, Charlie's Bus Co., and CAB. He was a member of the Samuel L. Derby Post 556 American Legion in Frewsburg, and a past member of the Ellery Center Fire Department. David enjoyed working with wood, from building a house to fine furniture making, he did it all. He also loved his dogs. Surviving are his wife Carrol Roth Shepard with whom he would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary August 27, 2018; a daughter, Sue Lanning of Dunkirk; a son, John Shepard of Fredonia; several grandchildren; five stepdaughters; and two stepsons. The funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday June 1, 2018 in the Lind Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday (two hours prior to the service) in the funeral home. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paws Along The River Humane Society, 212 Elm Street, Warren, PA 16365.
