Dear family and friends of Miriam,
My mom and dad, Hubert and Mary Kooman, used to live across the hall from Miriam and Franklin at the independent apartments at LSS. I often heard about how wonderful Miriam and Franklin were even in the most ordinary parts of the lives they shared with my parents. Even my brother "fell in love" with Miriam. I used to keep track of her after she moved to the nursing home
and got to share lunch with her once when I was visiting my mom who then lived at the assisted living in Gerry. I love you, Miriam, and thank you for being a warm and wonderful friend to my mom and dad! It wasn't an accident that I happened to be in Jamestown when your obit appeared in the Post Journal!

We wish to express our sincere sympathy to Miriam’s family and friends. We imagine she is now playing her piano and organ beautifully with Franklin by her side. We always looked forward to hearing Miriam’s stories while visiting her at LSS. Plus, George enjoyed her ever-present chocolate treats. We regret that we will be out of town attending a wedding during Miriam’s memorial service, but we will be there in spirit. We will miss you, Miriam!

Mariam was very special lady , I knew Mariam when her and her friends would walk the basement halls with their ski sticks ,that was their exercise everyday. Than she moved to Hulquist Place where I got to know her when serving food( In the Dietary Department ) to her ,she would always accidently call me Elaine instead of Eileen , so she told me she was going to start calling me " Elaine Eileen " she was so kind ,and never complained about anything , you are so going to be missed Mariam .

Miriam touched my heart. Franklin and Miriam often came to our Falconer Library on a regular basis. She was always helping him, taking care of him. Even a month ago, she came on the Hultquist Van and sat in a comfy blue chair, patiently waiting to talk. Always a joy, sweet smile, great hugs and wisdom.
I shall miss you, Miriam.♥️

I first met Miriam through the Sue Seamans at the Falconer Public Library in 2003. She had asked if I would help Miriam when she had issues with her computer and a friendship between us grew from there. I was there to help her, but I learned from Miriam as well. Just stopping by to see her became something we do just to visit. She always left you feeling warm and with a smile. Every one who knew Miriam loved her. I feel blessed to have known her. My condolences to Miriam's friends and family.
