We will never forget the first time John showed up at our home dressed as Santa to surprise our then 4-year old daughter Chloe. She was so amazed that Santa came to see her and bring her gifts. John played the role with such gusto, and I think he enjoyed it as much as Chloe did. She still remembers that visit vividly 13 years later. John had a way of making you smile or laugh. I always enjoyed my visits with him. He was always so affirming whenever I was around him. His smile and humor will be missed.

You only get to meet someone like John once in your lifetime, and I am so grateful to have known, worked, and spent time chatting over bowls of ice cream with John and Betty at their home. My deepest condolences to his family. I know the Lord will "ferry" him into the waiting embrace of friends and family. He will certainly live on in the memory of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

This is the perfect photo as it is the way I always remember John, always smiling. He was such a special man and a great friend to Dad and our family. One of my earliest and best memories of John was him teaching me how to ice skate down on the lake. I was not very old and was not very good at it, but he kept trying. Then something happened and my skate got caught up in his and he went down. I felt terrible and he just laughed telling everyone for years afterwards that he played professional hockey and never fell until he tried to teach me and I brought him down!
My deepest sympathies to you Betty Lou and to your whole family.
Rest in peace dearest John.

I remember john as a youngster growing up and playing on the lake in front of the patatoe patch. He his father and sister were all nice people and john came over when I had my amputation and gave me an arrow head, I went every year except the last two to the ferry just to say high to John. He loved working on it in a wheelchair cleaning the deck with a wet dry vac. God be with John and his family.

I will always remember his smile and him wanting a hug each time I saw him. Forever in my mind he was the man that kept the Bemus Point Stow ferry up and running. It was his love on the lake. He would tell us all about the people he had met on his many journey' s across the lake. When I was working for Hollyloft, on a Tuesday night ride all I had to do was call, He would meet half of us on one side of the lake and then the other half on the opposite side. He never let us down. Thank you Betty Lou for sharing your husband with all of us. You were his beloved and alway giving wife.
