Obituary of Doris M. Rooney
Doris M. Rooney, 75, of 603 Norton Ave., Jamestown, NY, passed away on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018 at home after a 10 year long courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1943 in Titusville, Pa. a daughter of the late Ralph and Virginia Walton Winters.
She was the wife of Thomas A. Rooney, whom she married Dec. 6, 1986 in Fluvanna Community Church.
Before retirement she was employed at MRC Manufacturing for many years.
She was a life member of the VFW Aux. Post #53, American Legion Aux #777, the Moose Club, UAW Local 338 MRC-SKF, and was a former member of the Eagles Aux.
Doris enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, roller skating, and playing bingo. In earlier years she was an avid bowler and drag raced in Wattsburg, PA. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them.
Doris is survived by her husband Tom; a daughter: Lisa (Jon)Rogerson, a son Rick (Dawn) Johnson, a daughter Lori (Edwin Figueroa) Johnson; three grandchildren: Devin Figueroa, Skyler Johnson, Casey Rogerson; three great grandchildren: Serenity, Natalie, and Skiegh Figueroa; two sisters: Berdessa (Lester) Singer, Glenda (Robert) Pelham; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Schweichler and by her loving dog "Murphy."
The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice for their compassionate care they gave Doris.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Tim Phelps, Hospice Chaplain, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.
