Obituary of Nicholas O. Agnello

Nicholas O. "Nick" Agnello, 92, of Jamestown, passed away at 4:00 am Sunday, August 19, 2018, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility, being reunited with his wife, just like they used to be. An area resident for most of his life, he was born August 3, 1926 in Buffalo, NY a son of the late Orazio and Mary Vento Agnello. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from August 18, 1943 to December 10,1947, during World War II. Before his retirement he was the owner and operator of the GMA Liquor Store and Laundromat. He was also the manager of the former GMA Supermarket where he worked with his brother in law, George Guzzardo. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and as a member of the Disabled American Veterans Club. He also enjoyed listening to his c b radio and will be remembered for his devotion to "Prince", his german shepherd dog. Surviving are a daughter; Judy (Charlie) Darling of Jamestown, a daughter-in-law; Autumn Agnello of Port Richey, FL, four grandchildren; Kimberly Johnson of Jamestown, Patricia Southwick of Jamestown, Tony (Kelli) Agnello of Trinity, FL, Nicole (Kelley) Agnello-Starling of Trinity, FL, seven great grandchildren; Tyrell, Austen, Andrew, Aron, Camryn, Kylie, Kaden, two sisters; Angie Mistretta of CA, Rita Baker of CO, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, the former Elaine M. Billgren Agnello whom he married July 9, 1949 and who died July 19, 2011, a son; Nicholas J. Agnello who died October 7, 2017, a brother; Tony Agnello and a sister; Carmella "Millie" Guzzardo. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor of St. James Catholic Church will officiate. Visitation will not be observed.
