Obituary of Sarah Jane Page

Sarah Jane Page, 88, formerly of 28 Lake Street Jamestown, passed away Tuesday August 21, 2018 in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born November 3, 1929 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Augustus William and Mary Alice Gauley Smith. Sarah was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School and was one of the first teachers at the former Ss Peter and Paul School where she taught kindergarten. She also was a secretary at several tool shops, including Gierston Tool Co, and Rane Tool Co. Before retirement, Sarah worked for Cramer Industrial as a sales woman. Following retirement, she cooked meals at the county jail part time. She was an active member of Holy Apostles Parish Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Cemetery Committee, and the Altar and Rosary Society. She cooked many Thanksgiving Dinners at the parish and hosted the Strawberry Festival for many years. She also enjoyed making biscuits for the St. Lucia Day and delivered them to the students at Holy Family School. Sarah was also a member of Mercy Associates. She enjoyed knitting, reading, watching TV, and most of all visiting with her grandchildren. Sarah Jane is survived by her five children and their families: Daniel (Gail) Page of Huntington Beach, CA; Donald (Jeanne) Page of Borden, IN; Adrianne (Richard) Weiss of Jamestown; Julianne Page of Wheat Ridge, CO; Paul Page of Sweden; 12 grandchildren: Matthew and Christopher Page, Lucinda (Gary) Lewis, Rachel (Josh) Sater, Kelly Page, Ian Hartsook, Renee (James) Zahm, Mark Weiss, Sydney Page-Hayes, Becky (Mike) Pallente, Fredrik Page, Zip Sophia Page; and four great grandchildren: Natalie, Isaac, and Jacob Lewis, and Paul James Zahm. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a great grandson: Matthew Adrian Lewis; nine brothers and sisters: Charles Smith, William Shelby Smith, Dorothy Coleman, Mary Alice Rae, Ralph Smith, Roger Smith, James Smith, A. Eugene Smith, and Elizabeth Lenna Fairbank; and her former husband, Harvey A. Page. The family would like to thank the staff of the Parkside unit and the Connections program at Heritage Green for all of their compassionate care over the last two and a half years. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be announced at a later date by the Lind Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Apostles Parish, 508 Cherry Street, Jamestown, NY 14701; or to the charity of your choice
