Bill was a great friend of my dad, Jack, through the YMCA and their early morning exercise club. I used to join them for breakfast sometimes when I visited and enjoyed talking to the gang. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to the family.

Sorry for your loss. Bill loved life to the fullest and I am sure lived it with no regrets. I first met Bill when I was a kid, he living on Myers Ave and I living on Cowden Pl. He let me help him put a new roof on his garage, my actual helping could be debated. As I grew up our paths crossed periodically. I sang in the base section at First Cove next to his brother. Bill was a man worth knowing and his example to me over the years was of benefit to me. I know he is missed. Jerry Thelander

I spent many happy hours as Bill's teammate on the Epworth Methodist softball team. He was the fabulous pitcher. It was the summers during my high school and college years. I miss Bill and my other teammates and I miss Epworth as well.

As one of the younger cousins, I always admired Betty and Bill! My husband Ralph and I always enjoyed meeting for lunch and catching up with family news when we visited Jamestown! In our eyes, neither of you seemed to get any older! We also admired and appreciated the giving spirit and help you gave my parents, Beatrice and Oscar Lind, during some of their difficult years. Personally, when I was 'young', I remember clearly and was very proud to see Bill marching in the Memorial Day Parade! So we join with many to say the family and the Jamestown community was richer because of Bill's generosity and spirit. Christine and Ralph Curtiss West Grove, PA

Grandpa, I miss you so much already. It’s hard to believe you’re gone but all the memories remain. You were an inspiration to so many and touched so many lives. Your love for your family and your community. You went above and beyond. Thank you for everything that you have done. You were always there for us. I love you Grandpa always and forever. My father led by example. His service to our family, our community and our country is something that I'll always remember and appreciate. However, the one thing that I feel is his greatest accomplishment is winning the heart of one Betty Ann Dahlgren to be his wife and our mother. The marriage and family that they forged is a testament to the quality of both of their spirits, and God has truly blessed them. I love you Dad and Mom and I am a better person immeasurably because of your love!
