Obituary of Virginia A. Card

Virginia "Ginny" "Jenny" A. (Fosberg) Card, 82, of Jamestown, NY passed away on September 1, 2018 at the Warren Manor Nursing Home in Warren, PA. No Memorial Service will be observed. Immediate family will gather at a later date to celebrate her life and mourn her passing. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Lakewood. She was the widow of Robert A. Card, whom she married April 25, 1959 and who died April 3, 2004. Virginia was born May 9, 1936 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Helen (Morrison) and Benjamin Fosberg. A 1954 Jamestown High School graduate, she then graduated from WCA Hospital Nursing School, having attended from 1955 to 1958. While in school she worked at the Betty Dixon Candy Store on 3rd St. in Jamestown. Once graduated, Virginia worked as a Registered Nurse in Surgery for WCA Hospital. She was later promoted and was second in charge of the nurses until retirement. She was well respected by Nurses and Doctors she worked with. She had an artistic side to her and loved to draw faces. She had a great love for cats. Her late cat, Kelly, was named after the former Buffalo Bills quarterback, #12 Jim Kelly. Virginia is survived by a daughter: Lisa Condon of Rochester, NY; brother: Gordon Fosberg of Long Beach, CA; granddaughter: Hannah Condon; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Fosberg and son-in-law, Timothy Condon. In lieu of flowers, tax deductible donations may be made to the Mary Lou Messina Scholarship Fund through the WCA Foundation, P.O. Box 840, Jamestown, NY 14702-0840.
