Obituary of Barbara R. Knisley

Barbara R. Knisley, 86, formerly of Bemus Point, NY, passed away August 1, 2018. She spent a part of every summer at the family cottage in Maple Springs until moving there on a year-round basis in 1974. Barbara was born December 16, 1931 in Buffalo, the daughter of the late George R. and June Thomas Knisley. She was a graduate of the University of Buffalo and received her Master's Degree from St. Bonaventure University. For many years she worked as a social case worker for Chautauqua County. A member of First Presbyterian Church in Jamestown, Barbara had been a deacon and an elder, served on the flower committee and was a 35 year member of the Sarah Circle. She is survived by Evelyn Baker Bruce of Angola, NY; David and Joan Bruce of Orchard Park and Robert and Kathleen Bruce of Angola, and their daughters, Phoebe and Olivia Bruce; and by her much loved cat, Mary. Also surviving are cousins: Beverly Thielke, Pamela Knisley, Jeffrey, Tracy, Matthew, David and Erin Knisley, and Nickolas, Katie and Jacob Graves. Her life was recognized late this summer during Sunday services at First Presbyterian Church. Barbara loved animals and would be appreciative of any remembrance of her being given to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
