Pete was my favorite mental health counselor i ever had. He actually helped me out in life and i never got a chance to thank him. Him and i used to talk about cars and motorcycles and how he was gonna fix up a car. When i heard this i was heart broken. He will be greatly missed and i will always remember the man who made me think life wasnt all that bad. Rest in peace, Pete.

Mark & Tarbrake family,
I knew Duck for only for 5 years when I lived in Chautauqua county. He was like family right after I met him. Thanks Tarby. I will never forgot a few road trips to see the Syracuse Orangemen.
He was very kind and thoughtful.
I am so very sorry for your loss.
Remember Duck, “it only tastes expensive.”
He was absolutely one of the good guys and will be greatly missed.

So sorry for your loss of Peter. He should have had many more years to enjoy his family. I taught with Nell for years at S.W. and remember many chats in the "ladies" faculty room. Often the chats were about Peter and how well be was doing in college, then his first jobs, his marriage, the arrival of his children (which made Nell a grandmother), and all the important events in Peter's life. So I feel that I knew Peter even though I never had any real conversations with him. I am also sorry about Bill. I must have been away last summer. Keep well, Mark.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your family member. Pete was a co-worker and I learned a great deal from him. He was a true friend and ally at work when I needed it most. I will miss him a great deal and be asking myself, "What would Pete do in this situation?" Thank you.

My heart is broken. Pete is everything said in the obit and more. Such a kind man who like u said cared for everyone including the lost souls. He was also special because he stood up for what he believed in and always spoke his mind...quite capably and colorfully at times! Most of all I’ll miss his easy friendship. I knew a Pete for over 30 years. When I worked in Jamestown he always told me I could stay at his house if I got stuck in the snow oblivious to the fact that his house high on the Ridge WAS the worst spot for the snow! There was no one like Pedro. I’ll miss him forever..... much love to all the family as you all manage in the days ahead......

I am deeply saddened to hear of Pete’s passing. Pete was an angel on earth, so kind and a friend to all. As a young kid and one of Mark’s (Tarb’s) close friends, Pete was like big brother to all of us. He literally took us under his wing, and was always a friendly and supportive mentor. Later on, he followed us in our sports activities, always lifting us up with his positive support. For the past few years, I’ve enjoyed reading his witty and insightful pearls of wisdom on Facebook. Truly he will be missed and his impact on family and friends will never be forgotten.

Heartfelt condolences to family and friends for our loss of Peter.
He worked with and lived with a very kind and giving sense of self.
It was a pleasure knowing him, and his sense of humor was much
appreciated.
Peter and I were coworkers with dozens of other social workers and health care professionals , all devoted to helping those in need find a better way of life. It is now our turn to remember Peter and his goodness and to pray for the heavens to open up and welcome him to eternity for a life well lived.

Peter demonstrated much dedication to helping his clients at UPMC, he will be missed by those he helped and by his colleagues. Peter was always striving to keep his skills and knowledge level. He was an avid reader of new innovations in the treatment of substance abuse and mental health. Throughout his career Peter also was a advocate for his profession of Social Work and did a lot to help other social workers grow professionally. It was only last week that Peter shared with me how rewarded he felt by recent positive feedback from clients and his efforts at maintaining his skill level. His colleagues will miss him and his annual spring BBQ in the parking lot!

Berg, my dear friend. I am so incredibly saddened by Pete's passing. It was so great to get to spend a few minutes with him at the Golf Course over Labor Day. I will forever have that nice memory. He was a good man Tarb. Solid in every sense of the word. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to call him a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Chris and the girls, and with all of Pete's family.

Pete Tarbrake's greatest legacy may be the hope he gave to thousands of people (myself included). He skillfully guided emotionally distraught individuals passed cruel bureaucracies, loneliness, and deprivation. Social Work may not be the most glamorous profession, but it is a necessary one; and he took great satisfaction in helping many through Life's Darkest Moments. And now that time is here for us all: We should all be proud of not only Pete's abundant friendship, but his enormous compassion, and the fine example he set for us all: May we all aspire to his level of Humanity!

Dear Tarby, Chris and the whole Tarbrake family. I am deeply saddened when I learned this morning of the tragic passing of your brother and father Pete. I'll remember him as a man who always had time to talk, quick with a laugh, and was sincerely interested in what was going on in my life. Pete was a man who I was very happy to know, but I wish I would have got to know him better. God bless all of you in this very difficult time.
