Obituary of Dixie D. Cotten
Dixie Swanson Reynolds Cotten, 79, formerly of 240 Summit Ave., Jamestown, passed away Monday, November 19th at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
She was born August 23, 1939 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Herbert Swanson and Virginia Buck Swanson Ostrander. A 1957 graduate of Bemus Point High School, she also attended Jamestown Community College and Jamestown Business College.
Dixie's banking career included working as branch manager for the former Chase Lincoln First Bank's Bemus Point, Mayville and Frewsburg offices. She retired from the bank's Jamestown office as a Vice President in 1988. Following retirement, she served as business manager at Christ First United Methodist Church for a number of years.
Dixie was a member of Blue Star Mothers, AMVETS Auxiliary, Zonta Club and Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are three children: Jon (Lisa) Reynolds of Alabama, Scott Reynolds of Arizona and Beth (Greg) Korcyl of Bemus Point; four step-children: Sally Bowen, Shelly Stevenson and Amy Cotten, all of Lakewood, NY, and Bruce Reynolds of Florida; four grandchildren: Cody Reynolds of Bemus Point, Amandra Bluder of California, Crystal Reynolds of North Carolina and Kyle Reynolds of Boston, MA; eight step-grandchildren: Jay Bowen of Panama, Andy Bowen and Ann DeLeon of Jamestown, Troy Reynolds and Stacy Reynolds of New Jersey, Mackenzie Ray Stevenson and Chase Stevenson of Lakewood, and Shannon Lebak of Pittsburgh; as well as two great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Sandy (Chuck) Erickson of Jamestown, Linda Berg of Georgia and a brother, Ralph Douglas Swanson of California; and a step-brother, Robert Swanson of Frewsburg and step-sister, Connie Warfield of Texas.
Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald B. Cotten, whom she married August 25, 1987 and who died January 8, 2015; her parents and her step-father, John Ostrander; a stepson, John James Reynolds in 2000; and a step-grandson, Stefan Alverez in 2005.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ First United Methodist Church. Pastor Matt Rowe and the Rev. Douglas Knopp will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
