Obituary of Ellen R. Hitchcock

Ellen R. Hitchcock, 86, of 3603 Route 957, Russell, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018, in the Warren General Hospital, Warren, PA. A Lander, PA resident all of her life, she was born November 25, 1932 in Warren, PA, a daughter of the late George and Isabelle Hollabaugh Rapp. Before her retirement, she was employed by the Warren County School District for many years, working as a cafeteria aide and a bus driver. She will be remembered as one who loved being with her family and celebrating special events. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards and knitting. Surviving are her four children; Barbara (Bill) Woodfield of Ellery Center, NY, Willard B. (Becky) Hitchcock of Lander, PA, George P. Hitchcock of Jamestown, NY, David A. (friend Lisa) Hitchcock of Lander, PA, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Belmer W. "Bum" Hitchcock who died April 16, 2016, three brothers, Galen, James and Clifford Rapp and two daughter-in-laws, Penny Kohler Hitchcock and Eileen Elliott Hitchcock. The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 29, 2018, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Billy Hughes, pastor of the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Foster Cemetery, Lander, PA. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018, in the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home.
