Mary Alice Mount, 73, of High Acres Dr. Bemus Point, NY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, in her home. An area resident for most of her life, she was born August 21, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Sidney R. and Virginia F. VanDerBeck Painter. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School and continued her education at the Mary Wards Secretarial School in Buffalo, NY. Before her retirement in 1994, she had worked at MRC/TRW, now SKF Bearings, and was a member of the United Auto Workers Union until her retirement. She then decided to enter the real estate field and became a real estate agent working for Coldwell Banker Phil Mathyer Real Estate and later with Century 21 Turner Brokers until her full retirement 2006. In previous years she had attended the Fluvanna Community Church. She will be remembered as a very loving wife, sister, and true friend to all who knew her. She loved her home and enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her friends. Mary loved reading the bible and doing home bible study with her husband. She also loved to crochet and give items that she made to her family and friends. She said she never met any strangers, just friends she had not been blessed to meet as yet. She will be sadly missed by her friend Renee Miller and her friends in West Virginia, Frances Smithson, Lee Castro, Kathy Cochran and Aunt Mary Rugel of Hickory, NC. Surviving is the true love of her life, her husband of 30 years, Richard B. "Dick" Mount, two brothers; Chuck (Sharon) Painter of Jamestown, NY, Robert (Blanca) Painter of Lynchburg, VA, six nephews; Steven (Susan) Painter of Princeton, NC, Robin (Stefanie) Painter of Sanford, NC, David (Eileen) Painter of Jamestown, NY, Jeff (Beth) Painter of VA, Ted (Corrie) Painter of Mass., Jamie Painter of IA and two nieces; Missi (Alfredo) Sanchez of NJ and Dorothy "Dodi" Painter of Celoron, NY. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Sidney D. Painter who died February 22, 2006, a good friend and the sister she never had, Karen Knapp and also her friend Faith Parsons. A private service was held in the Lind Funeral Home. Entombment was in the Sunset Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 West Fairmount Ave. Jamestown, NY 14701.
