Obituary of Laura F. Piatz
Laura F. Piatz, 101, formerly of Hazzard St. Jamestown, NY, passed away at 5:59 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
An area resident for most of her life, she was born May 28, 1917 in Fredonia, NY, a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Marturana Alaimo.
In earlier years, Laura was employed by the former National Worsted Mills and was also a seamstress for the former Jamestown Sewing Company and later worked for the Jamestown Container Corporation.
Laura was a member of the Chautauqua County Home Bureau, the American Association of Retired Persons and enjoyed bowling in the senior bowling league. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved cooking and baking for her family as well as playing cards and tending to her garden.
Surviving are her three children; Sandra (Dennis) Lundberg of Saratoga Springs, NY, Dennis (Eleanor) Piatz of Buffalo, NY, Bruce (Marlene) Piatz of Jamestown, NY, seven grandchildren; Scott Larson of Clifton Park, NY, Timothy (Robin) Larson of Glens Falls, NY, Kellee Piatz, Andrew Piatz both of Jamestown, Taylor (Kevin) Laspisa of White Plains, NY, Mackenzie Piatz of Tampa, FL, Michael Piatz of Buffalo, NY, four great grandchildren; Peyton and Collins Laspisa, Ava and Ella Larson, a brother, Charles Alaimo of Fredonia, NY, and two sisters; Rose Epolito, Delores Borello both of Fredonia, NY.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel J. Piatz whom she married April 11, 1942 and who died October 2, 1985, a sister, Ann Dimossimo and three brothers, Samuel, Russell and Joseph Alaimo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2019, in Holy Apostles Parish at Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2019, in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 3:45 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
