Obituary of Joann M. Schnars
Joann M. Schnars, 79, of 699 Busti-Sugar Grove Road, Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, in UPMC Chautauqua.
She was born on August 10, 1939 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Steven J. and Alice M. Wagner Babyak.
She was a graduate of Southwestern High School. In earlier years she had worked at Woolworths and Peterson's Candies.
Joann enjoyed reading books, crossword puzzles, camping, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters: Terri (Kelley) O'Neill and Jody (Kevin) Miller, both of Ashville; two sons: Tom Schnars of Jamestown and Tim Schnars of Sugar Grove, Pa; four grandchildren: Shannon and Casey O'Neill, both of New York City, Corey and Ryan Schnars, both of Sugar Grove, Pa; a step grandson: James Miller of Ashville; a sister: Judy Rodriguez of Jamestown; sisters and brothers in law: Donna (Terry) Swanson and Ron (Peggy) Schnars, both of Jamestown, Bill (Vicki) Schnars of Mooresville, NC; and several nieces and nephews, and will be missed greatly by her beloved dog, "Junior."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. "Bob" Schnars, whom she married Oct. 4, 1958 and whom passed away on May 21, 2016; and a sister Pat A. Babyak, whom passed on Jan. 24, 2005.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Adam Rohler, pastor of First Covenant Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Busti Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Busti Fire Department, 886 Mill Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
