Two Lakes Scouters,
A huge supporter of Scouting has passed away.
Dale Carlson was involved with the Allegheny Highlands Council for many years serving as a long-time treasurer and Council President. His support of Scouting spanned decades at the local and council levels.
Dale was a quiet giant. His presence at a meeting or at the podium commanded respect. There was always a dignity and a calm and reassuring style to his demeanor. Though he was soft-spoken, there was never a doubt as to where his allegiances were placed. Dale had an eloquence of speech and manner that put all at ease.
Dale's passing leaves a void in the hearts of many Scouts and Scouters. He was a mentor, counselor, coach and friend to many.

Dear Carlson Family;
As a new part time CARTS bus driver, I had an assignment to transport Dale to the Doctor's office about a month ago. While the name seemed familiar, when I saw him at Heritage Green, I knew it was the Dale Carlson that that trained me and that I succeeded at HSBC Bank. Dale was a big man, with large hands used to place on your shoulder to give kind guidance, encouragement and understanding. His stature demanded respect yet his demeanor was gentle, kind and caring. His talents as a Banker and a lender were intelligent, insightful and skilled while maintaining a high degree of caring for his customer. I owe a lot to Dale for his tutelage, and do not know if I thanked him enough for it.
I asked him if he was the Dale Carlson that I worked with at HSBC and he had trouble responding. As I drove, memories flooded back. As I pushed his wheelchair to the doctor's office, I took the opportunity to pat my hand on his shoulder and told him that he was a fine gentleman, a great mentor, and a super banker. I am not sure if Dale comprehended what I was saying but ran into Elizabeth in the hallway and emotionally told her these same things.
I was very happy to see Dale that day and hope that all of the Carlson family are proud of him. I know I will always remember him as the gentle giant of banking. Please accept my sympathies for the loss of a Fine Gentleman of Jamestown.

Mr. Carlson will always be remembered fondly by our family. He was so kind and helpful to the boys of 162, a shining example of a model scout and community-spirited citizen. We were blessed to know him. Our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
