I just learned of Joe's passing yesterday and was deeply moved. I was a newspaper photographer and writer in Sebring, FL in '74. Joe was working up and down the Eastern U.S. pulling his Hammond B-3 in a trailer and he was playing a popular local club. We met when he hired me to shoot some publicity B&Ws. I was very impressed with his talented mastery of that organ and his vocal renditions! He loved Paul Anka's music and introduced me to the most special Anka song. "Do I Love You?"! I delivered several photos with which I was pleased at the end of the week and Joe went on his way. I moved to Daytona Beach, FL the next year where I've lived for 47 years now. I received an internet message from Joe in May, 2019 out of the blue. He reminded me of our meeting in Sebring back in '74, saying he'd come across some old promo literature with a photo which he'd credited me. He'd somehow seen my unusual name on the internet and asked if I was the same Darius? I was thrilled to communicate with him and learn of his continuing successful career and when he told me he was in the Orlando area I wanted to get together soon. He said he'd worked for Disney for a while and I told him that my firstborn had been an equity performer for Disney for almost a decade, singing in two of their premier shows. Then Joe told me about his spinal issues and other physical challenges and we never did have that reunion. I was born six years prior to Joe and finally retired last September. As I realize my time left on this earth is much less than the time I've spent, life and relationships become more precious. I feel blessed to have known Joe and wish we'd had gotten to know one another better. God bless you Joe!

It was 1993 when I met Joe Trippi, as I recall, though memory doesn't serve me as well as it used to. I was a young man fresh out of boot camp and in one of the toughest training schools around, Navy Nuclear Training. I'd lost my parents very young and wasn't in close contact with any of my family. I'd dropped out of college a year or so before and had joined the Navy as a means to get my life moving in a positive direction. I was kind of shy and, though there were guys I'd hang out with, I felt very alone in the world. My days were filled with long hours of classroom instruction and most of my nights were filled with study as I grappled with knowledge that eluded my understanding. The fear of failure was ever-present as that had been the outcome of so many other things I'd tried in my life. One weekend evening I found myself at the Beach Club on Disney's Pleasure Island with my compatriots who wanted to dance some of the stress away. As I sat there, as usual, dreading the end of the weekend and the next weeks onslaught of information, I heard a voice that resonated with joy. It pulled me in and said... it's OK, let go, just for tonight, you can have fun, feel free, everything's going to be alright. That voice was Joe's. That was the first night I'd smiled and danced in a long time and, as if by magic, at the end of the evening the next week seemed manageable somehow. There were many more months of grueling work, many more times I was sure I wouldn't make it, but the weekend would come and I go back out to the beach club to hear Joe and his Fantasy Band and by the end I'd feel like I could last one more week. I met some wonderful people during that time and had the honor to talk with Joe a few times at the end of a set or as the club closed down. I remember we talked about what it means to pursue your dreams and it was Joe that helped me believe it was possible... helped me believe in myself as I never had before. I'll never forget you Joe. I would never have made it through that time or to where I am in life without you. You had the courage to share your gift with the world. You left it all on stage every night. And as if that wasn't enough, you took the time to care about a young man struggling to make sense out of this crazy world... and himself. Your music and your words lifted me up and I've never been the same.

OK, so it's true that I never mentioned it for the next 54 years, but I also never forgot my 6th grade boyfriend singing "Mrs Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter" with "Mrs Piazza" replacing Mrs Brown. Absolutely the sweetest memories of you, Joe. Till we meet again...

The Trippy family owned and lived in a two family home on Hazzard St in Jamestown and my mother, brother and I lived in the upstairs apartment. I am older than Joey but I do remember him playing downstairs, a lot! He was good, really good!
I am pleased to read about his accomplishments that he had worked so hard to achieve. Please accept my sincere condolences. I am sure he will be missed. His photo brings back his memory of him to me.

Throughout a 40 year relationship, Joe was my friend as well as my client.
Joe Trippi's talent was seen around the globe as he performed hotels and night clubs with his Fantasy Band.
Throughout the years, Joe had a wonderful way of staying connected with all his friends and fans by just being himself, a loving and caring person.
As Joe's personal manger and best friend, I will miss his daily calls and occasional visits.
Rest in peace my brother!
