Obituary of Catherine T. Sherman

Catherine T. Sherman, 88, of 13 Shaw Avenue, Jamestown, died Wednesday March 27, 2019, in St. Mary's of Asbury Ridge, Erie, PA. A native of Jamestown, she was born September 11, 1930, a daughter of the late Robert and Marie Hayes Weldon. She was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to her retirement in 1999 she was employed by Slone Melhuish Insurance for 26 years as a secretary to the commercial department. She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Marvin Community House. Surviving are three daughters Patricia (Lowell) Hedlund of Dallas, TX, Lori (Michael) Anderson of Erie, PA and Theresa (Scott) Winkler of Loveland, OH; nine grandchildren Sarah (Brad) Vanderwielen, Kathryn (Jeremey) Holcomb, Courtney Sherman, Caitlyn Sherman, Ryanne (Isaac) Gerg, Ashley Sikuka, Jacob (Susann) Anderson, Elizabeth Winkler and Robert Winkler; six great grandchildren, two brothers William Weldon of Avon, CT and Bernard Weldon of Seattle, WA and two sisters Ellen Adams of Jamestown and Sister Mary Ann Weldon of Buffalo. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Sherman, whom she married November 25, 1950 and who died November 30, 2010; a son Mark Sherman; a brother Jack Weldon and a sister Susan Abbott. A private memorial mass will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
