Obituary of Susan D. Peterson

Susan D. Peterson, 56, of Cheektowaga, NY, formerly of Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly at 7:25 pm Monday, April 29, 2019, in Elderwood of Cheektowaga, Cheektowaga, NY, following a brief illness. She was born June 25, 1962 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of Nancy Greene Peterson and the late Gordon R. Peterson. Susan was a 1980 graduate of Jamestown High School and earned her business degree from Jamestown Business College. A resident of the Buffalo area for the past 25 years, she had worked for several insurance agencies and was most recently a customer service representative for the United Insurance Agency in Amherst, NY. While living in Jamestown, she had worked for the Gary Johnson Insurance Agency, the former Quality Markets and for the Dawson Metal Company. She will be remembered as one who enjoyed counted cross-stitch, gardening, reading, collecting books and recently had an interest in studying family history and genealogy. Surviving are her mother, Nancy L. Peterson of Jamestown, her sister, Diane (Curt) Simonsen of Orchard Park, NY, a niece, Lauren Simonsen of Buffalo, NY, a nephew, Jacob Simonsen of Orchard Park, NY and her cousins, William Greene, Barbara Strong, Thomas Greene and Michael Greene. She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon R. Peterson who died July 19, 2006. The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Hoyer, pastor of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer, NY. Friends will be received from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm Saturday, two hours prior to the service in the funeral home.
