Obituary of Lois E. Estabrook
Lois Elaine Estabrook, 85, of Jamestown, NY, passed away at 9:03 am Tuesday, May 14, 2019, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong area resident, she was born March 2, 1934 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late William O. and Frances Marion Kelley Adams.
Lois was a 1953 graduate of Falconer Central School and also a graduate of Jamestown Community College.
Before her retirement, she was employed as a Pharmacy Technician for the former Ruslink Pharmacy in the Southside Plaza for 32 years. In earlier years she had worked for the former McKallor Drug Company as a buyer.
She was a member of the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church and in earlier years was a member of the Marvin Community House, Jamestown Lions Club, the Chautauqua Blind Association and was active as a girl scout and later as a volunteer for the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed volunteering in the gift shop at the Lutheran Home and was named Volunteer of the Year at Lutheran in 2018. She also loved to travel the world with her late husband Fred and loved sharing their home with their dogs and cats.
Surviving are three daughters; Leann (Terry) Austin, Linda Kennedy both of Jamestown, Lori Berggren of Westfield, NY, eight grandchildren; Kristan (Andrew) Garvey of Jamestown, Cody Austin of Rochester, NY, Erika Austin of Gowanda, NY, Camden Austin of Jamestown, Chad Berggren, Hillery Berggren both of Fredonia, NY, Amanda Dorman of Dunkirk, NY, Tate Kennedy of Jamestown, two great grandchildren, Liberty Kennedy, Hazel Doner, three step-children; Fred T. Estabrook, II, Colleen Brentley, Joanne Hunt, two step-grandchildren; Taylor Brentley, Alex Estabrook, a step-great grandson, Sam Estabrook, a brother; Donald (Joanne) Adams of Frewsburg, and a sister-in-law; Delores Adams of Jamestown, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents William O. Adams and Frances Adams Larson, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick F. Estabrook who died January 10, 2013, a sister, Gertrude Adams and a brother, Oliver "Ollie" Adams.
A private graveside service will be held in the Lake View Cemetery. The Rev. Carolyn Stow, pastor of the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church will officiate.
There will be a gathering of family and friends to celebrate Lois's life to be held at 2:00 pm Friday in the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua Blind Association or to the James Prendergast Free Library or to Chautauqua County Hospice and Palliative Care.
