Obituary of Reba G. Hewitt
Reba G. Hewitt, 99, passed away Wednesday May 29, 2019 in the Lutheran Home.
She was born January 24, 1920 in Galion, OH the daughter of the late Andrew and Gertrude Stauffer.
For 41 years, she was office manager at Jamestown Finishes. Reba was an active member of Holy Apostles Parish serving on many committees including the church attic sale and several bazaars, as well as serving as a Eucharistic Minister for over 40 years. She was always there to help the church and many community organizations. She was also a member and past officer of the Marvin House and the Jamestown Business and Professional Women's Association. Being active with Holy Apostles Parish, she was honored by the Catholic Daughters of America being a member since the age of 16, and in 2007 she was the Jamestown Interclub Council Woman of The Year.
Surviving are a niece, Deborah (Vernon) Rapp of Ontario, OH; great nieces, Jamie, Janelle, and Rebecca; a great nephew, Joshua and their families; a step daughter in law, Carol Hewitt of North Carolina; three step granddaughters, Linda, Kim, and Janice; and a step grandson, James and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Samuel Hewitt whom she married August 17, 1974 and who died November 19, 1992; a brother whom she cherished, and sister in law, Andrew and Helen Stauffer; a beloved nephew and his wife, Robert and Gloria Stauffer; and a step son, James Hewitt. Reba was also blessed with many dear friends, including Tom Bohall and Carmela Ciancio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday June 3, 2019 in Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor, will be celebrant.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Visitation will not be observed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Apostles Parish, 508 Cherry Street, Jamestown, NY 14701; or the Marvin Community House, 2 West Fifth Street, Jamestown, NY 14701; or the Lutheran Foundation, 715 Falconer Street, Jamestown, NY 14701.
