Obituary of Virginia E. Hurst

Virginia E. Hurst, 95, of Jamestown, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019.

She was the widow of Francis D. Hurst, whom she married August 16, 1941 and who died in 1981.

Virginia was born March 5, 1924 in Oakdale, Pa., the daughter of the late John George and Agnes Lupa Davis.

Along with raising her family, she had been employed over the years at the Hotel Jamestown and her church. She also volunteered as a Gray Lady at WCA Hospital.

Virginia was a member of the former Jamestown Revival Center.

She enjoyed events at her church, pets and gardening.

Surviving are two daughters: Donna M. Hurst of Amherst, NY and Leslie C. Fagan of Jamestown; two sons: Frank D. (Andrea) Hurst of Wisconsin and David M. (Carolyn) Hurst of Oregon; five grandchildren; and two brothers: Melvin W. Davis of Arizona and William Davis of Pennsylvania.

Besides her husband, Francis, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul A. Hurst in 1990; and a brother, John J. Davis in 2008.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24 in the Lind Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel W. Cook officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Visitation will not be observed.
