Obituary of Frances P. Eckstrom
Frances Paulette Bolin Eckstrom, 90, of 3599 Simmons Rd, Jamestown, NY, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2019, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
A lifelong area resident, she was born February 16, 1929 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Edward and Pearl Exley Bolin.
She was a 1947 graduate of the former Celoron High School.
Frances was a member of the Sugar Grove Mission Covenant Church, where she was active in the Heavenly Stitcher's Group. She also taught crocheting and knitting for several years.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved being around her family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and canning. She also loved doing word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and watching the kids.
She was the proud mother of 8 children and surviving are; Sally (Steve) Boardman of Busti, Sandra (Joe) Giordano, Dennis (Holly) Eckstrom both of Sugar Grove, PA, Sarah (Dan) Giordon of Busti, Benjamin (Patsy) Eckstrom of Sugar Grove, PA, Stacey (Bob) Siperek of Lakewood, NY, 30 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, a son-in-law, Dave Dennison, a daughter-in-law, Jessica Eckstrom, a sister-in-law, Joann Eckstrom, several nieces and nephews as well as her beloved cats, Bibbs and Boots.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. "Shorty" Eckstrom, whom she married September 25, 1948 and who died October 3, 1993, a son; Edward Eckstrom, a daughter; Susan Dennison, two grandchildren; Mary Ann Blanchard, Joey Giordano, two sisters; Eleanor Jones, June MacKenzie, an infant brother; Edward Bolin, and a brother-in-law; Darwin Eckstrom.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Brian Haight, pastor of the Sugar Grove Mission Covenant Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Busti Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 5-8 pm Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Sugar Grove Mission Covenant Church, 7205 Matthews Run Rd. Sugar Grove, PA 16350 or to the Busti Fire Department, 886 Mill Rd. Jamestown, NY 14701.
