Obituary of Shirley M. Newswanger

Shirley M. Newswanger, 82, of 120 W. Third Street, Jamestown, died Saturday July 27, 2019, in Absolut of Westfield. A native of Friendship, NY, she was born May 8, 1937, a daughter of the late Morris and Ruby Skinner Straight. She graduated from Alfred University in 1976 with a degree in nursing. She began her career as a registered nurse at Olean General Hospital and later worked for many years at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA Surviving is a daughter Jacqueline (Mervin) VanSickle of Jamestown; a granddaughter Samantha VanSickle Elder o Warren, PA; a great grandson Joseph Elder of Warren; a brother Stanley Straight of Darlington, PA and a sister Nancy Moulton of Norfolk, VA. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter Catherine Trusso; a brother Phillip Straight and a sister Patricia Qigley. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
