Obituary of Luciano Richetti

Luciano "Lucky" Richetti, 93, of Jamestown, passed away at 10:07 am Wednesday, August 7, 2019, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. He was born September 7, 1925 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Nick and Lucia Montagna Richetti and was raised by his father and step-mother Carrie Richetti. Beginning in the 1940's, Lucky was a businessman for most of his life, first owning a jukebox business and then as a co-owner of the Rocket gas Station in Falconer, NY. In later years working as a sole owner of Rocket Gas Station, he also worked as a custodian for the Jamestown Public School System for several years. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, friends and his work. For many years he enjoyed plowing snow for many of his neighbors. Surviving are his three children, Cindy (Ralph) Smith of Lakewood, NY, Duane (Beth) Richetti of Jamestown, Diane (Randy) Hockenberry of Lakewood. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Michael (Julie) Smith, Mark Smith, Jim (Cristin) Hockenberry, Amy (Adam) Glowniak, Ellen (Willie) Kennelley, Heather (Mike) Dietrich, and his great grandchildren, Ryan and Rob Smith, Kate and Lucy Hockenberry, Ryan and Grady Glowniak, Sophia, Lydia and Nadia Kennelley and Gavin Dietrich. Besides his parents and step-mother, he was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Dorothy Lillian Ellis Richetti, whom he married December 18, 1946 and who passed away just 11 days before Lucky on July 27, 2019, as well as three brothers and one sister in his blended family. The funeral will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas M. Knopp, pastor emeritus of Christ First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Sunday in the funeral home. Lucky's family would like to thank his caregivers, Suzy, Marge, Denise, Joan, Jan, Linda and Diane for the excellent care and concern they provided for Lucky and to his wonderful neighbors Steve and Debbie. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to a charity on one's choice. Following the service on Sunday, family and friends are invited to gather at the home of Duane and Beth Richetti at 62 Spruce St, Jamestown.
