Obituary of Carolyn J. Peterson

Carolyn J. Peterson, "Aunt Carolyn", 89, of 152 Aldren Ave., formerly of 261 Willard St., passed away at 5:45 am Sunday, August 11, 2019, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. She had resided on the Lutheran Campus for over 40 years. A lifelong area resident, she was born February 26, 1930 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Axel G. and Doris J. Lawson Peterson. Carolyn was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School and earned her registered nursing degree from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, Buffalo, NY. During her nursing career she had worked at the former Jamestown General Hospital, WCA Hospital and did private duty nursing for 12 years. She retired as a night supervisor at the Lutheran Home after23 years of service. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the former Chautauqua County Graduate Nurses Association, Deaconess Hospital Alumni Association and the District 1 New York State Nurses Association. Surviving are her cousins, Rev. Charles and Esther Gustafson, Beth and David Wilfong, James Lawson, Tim Gustafson, Jason Bruce, Jeremy Bruce, Kasey Wilfong, Bruce Gustafson, Cody Gustafson and Vera Bruce. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a later date to be announced by the Lind Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
