Obituary of Gloria P. Johnson

Gloria P. Johnson, 82, of 608 Winsor St. Jamestown, passed away at 9:55 am Tuesday, August 20, 2019, in her home. An area resident for most of her life, she was born May 23, 1937 in Ocean City, NJ, a daughter of the late Jack and Alfreida Agnes Pitts. Gloria was a graduate of the Jamestown Community College Licensed Practical Nursing Program and for many years was a private duty nurse, caring for people in their homes. In earlier years she had worked for the Lutheran Home. She was a member of the Christ First United Methodist Church and the Remocwen Club. She will be remembered as one who loved playing bridge with friends in several bridge clubs and for her love of her dogs. Surviving are her children; Gregory R. Johnson of Indianapolis, IN, Lorinne L. (Tim Przepiora) Johnson of West Ellicott, Michelle (Craig Benson) Johnson of Jamestown, four grandchildren; Gregory R. Johnson, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Christine (Eric) Hamilton of OK, Chelsey (Chachi) Ojeda of Lynchburg, OH, three great grandchildren; Liam Ojeda, Lucas Ojeda and soon to be Lincoln Ojeda, a brother; Stephen Pitts and a sister; Diana Rosenkeimer. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Russell L. Johnson, Jr. whom she married August 29, 1959 and who died October 18, 2016, her foster parents, Mac and Katherine McCurry, and her daughter-in-law, Donna Johnson. A private family service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Rd.
