Obituary of LeRoy S. Wilson

LeRoy S. Wilson, 86, of Jamestown, passed away at 2:45 am Friday, August 23, 2019, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A lifelong area resident, he was born June 26, 1933 in Jamestown, a son of the late Albert C. and Minnie LeRoy Wilson. He was a 1951 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Jamestown Community College. He also attended the University of Michigan School of Architecture. Before his retirement, he was a self employed cabinet maker for many years and had also worked for the Nelson Brothers Lumber Company. He was a member of the Zion Covenant Church and was a former member of the Jamestown Area Jaycee's and was active in many church related activities for many years in Jamestown. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Nancy A. Stromdahl Wilson whom he married June 22, 1957 in the former Epworth Christ United Methodist Church, a son, Randall L. (Polly) Wilson of Bristol VT,: five grandchildren, Latisha Royal of Williston, SC, Andra (Chad) tenPas of Rochester, NY, Nicy Hodnett of Mount Airy, MD, Garan (Andrielle) Wilson of St. Albans, VT, Giavanna (Patience) Wilson of Arlington, Mass.; several great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter; Maribeth A. Norrod a sister; Beverly Applequist, and a brother; Robert Wilson. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Zion Covenant Church. The Rev. Jay Baehr, youth and worship pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 12-2 pm Monday in the church parlors.
