Where do I start? Growing up my dad would take Tim and me bowling on Saturdays, he’d take the two of us out fishing, he taught us how to hit a golf ball (as long as we didn’t make divots in his yard), all of that in between work and gardening and hunting. After his back accident, he travelled to my high school volleyball games, took me to watch the boys’ basketball games, drove to Canton numerous times to visit us, and he even took us to VA Beach several times. Looking back on it, I can’t imagine the sacrifice and pain that he set aside to do those things for us after his accident. He never complained; he was just there loving us. As a dad, I couldn’t have asked for better. As a person, he was selfless and caring and willing to give someone the shirt off his back, and he was the hardest working person I’ve ever met. As a husband, he loved my mom very much and always took care of her. I am so happy to know that I’ll see him again one day and that his pain is gone. I’m so thankful to have been raised by a man who loved so much, gave so much, and taught us about God’s love. I will miss him so incredibly much. Thank you, Dad, for being the man you are, for teaching us all so much, and for loving us as much as you did.

It is difficult to share memories of dad because there are so many wonderful ones. Dad would often get home from work, change his clothes and head outside to work in the garden or his work shop. He would jog from one task to another in order to get more things done before dark. Growing up dad worked two jobs. Yet whenever I would come out to his work shop with a basketball, baseball mitts, or a football he would set down what he was doing and play with me. When we went on vacation on Chautauqua Lake dad would fix things around the house so we could afford to stay there longer. Dad taught me so many things about God, hard work, being a dad, being a husband and being a Christian. A few weeks ago, I was at Lowe's and didn't seek out an employee about a question I had; I simply called dad and he knew the answer. He will be greatly missed but he is not gone. It warms my heart to think that I have much more time ahead of me to spend with him than I have had in the past. I love you dad. Thank you for all the things you have done for me, mom, Rebekah and little Joey.

My memories of Uncle Howie bring kindness and laughter. He was a calm and caring man whom also could joke with us and promote laughter. My thoughts of him are that of a man of God first and then to his family and friends. My heart is with my Aunt Linda, I pray comfort and love for your heart during this time and for my cousins Bekah and Tim.

We always enjoyed our times together with Linda and Howie when we came home to Jamestown and Grace Chapel. We are glad that the Lord brought Howie into our lives, with his wonderful sense of humor and that we will see him again in the glory of heaven. Our hearts are so sad for the family and we are praying for you.

Howie (Papa Moore) was an amazing man. A second dad to me really. Whenever Tim wasn't at my house I was at Papa and Mama Moore's. I am so blessed to have had so much time with your family as a kid growing up - you guy's allowed me to tag along on so many family outings and events. Tim and I were a "bit" rowdy and I remember that all it took to get us to settle down, was Papa Moore giving us a look, and saying - Tim, John...lol. Papa Moore was an amazing role model of a Godly man and father figure. I am forever grateful for all the playing catch, going to our baseball games, taking us shooting, and the infamous Virginia Beach trips. I love you guys so much - Mama Moore, Becky and Tim. You are/have been in our prayers.
P.S. Beth and I still have our spoon

Tony and I were very blessed to get to know Howie. He was a GIANT example of GODLY man, encourager, he not only shared the gospel with his life but lived the gospel. His beloved wife and soul mate worked together as a great team. He will be missed here on earth but in Heaven he is rejoicing with His Savior and Lord.

Ryan & Rebekah, when I read about Howard, the one thing that comes to mind is legacy and it was truly a beautiful legacy that he left behind. What a Godly servant! One for all of us to emulate. The chorus of the song “Legacy” is describing Howard when It says: “I want to leave a legacy, how will they remember me? Did I choose to love? Did I point to You enough? To make a mark on things, I want to leave an offering. I’m a child of mercy and grace, who blessed your name unapologetically. I’m going to leave that kind of legacy. ( and Howard did! )
