Obituary of Janice M. Morrissey

Janice M. Morrissey, 74, of 2058 Ashmar Lane, died Monday October 7, 2019, in her home. She was born April 22, 1945, in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of the late Frank and Julia Chort Small. Prior to her retirement she was employed by the Jamestown Public School System as a teacher's aide at Jefferson Middle School. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bemus Point where she was a longtime member of the choir. The family would like to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of Compassionate Care for the months of loving service provided to Janice. Surviving are her husband Edward Morrissey, whom she married July 5, 1975; two children David (Catharine) Carroll of Cassadaga, NY and Lisa Carroll of Jamestown; a grandson Alexander Carroll and a sister Judith (Francis) Downhower of Alden, NY. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son James Morrissey. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church. Rev. Todd Remick will be celebrant. Inurnment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 6:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 West Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750.
