Emma L Conway posted a condolence
Friday, October 11, 2019
My thoughts and prayers are with Shelly and David in their families, Jim was like a second father to me growing up and he was the reason why I joined the Marine Corps. When I was 18 years old he gave me a ceramic Devil dog filled with Jim Beam! I will always remember it and remember him and his stories about the Marine Corps and him working at the Armory just across street from Lincoln junior high school and how much the Johnson family meant to me and my family.
I pray for Shelly and David that you remember all of the wonderful memories of your father Jim and keep those close to your heart and I just want to say “Semper Fi” & RIP Marine!!!
With love, you thank you so much Emma

Jim was much more than a mechanic. He took it on himself to gather and maintain unit historical data and was a key part of the fabric that made the unit a top performer during my command of B/1-127 Armor.

Jim was a great friend and worked together in the supply section of the USAR.
I will miss him; but always remember the good times we had in the reserves!

So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Our thoughts and prayers to his family. I worked at the Armory with Jim for many years and became good friends. We now live in North Carolina and will not be able to attend the services.
