Obituary of David B. Irwin
David B. Irwin, 74, of Russell, PA, died peacefully on Wednesday October 30, 2019, in UPMC Chautauqua, surrounded by loved ones.
A native of Sugar Grove, he was born September 17, 1945, a son of the late Lloyd and May York Irwin. He was a graduate of Eisenhower High School.
Prior to his retirement in 2002, he was employed by Monofrax where he worked in various positions over his career. Following retirement, he volunteered at Pine Ton Farms where he got to drive a dump truck and enjoy the laughter and high jinks (one of David's favorite words) of everyone there.
As a past president and member of the Chautauqua County Corvette Club, he enjoyed participating in car shows and cruise ins to discuss corvettes with other enthusiasts. He was also a member on the pit crew for Jack Lawrence Racing and was proud to be part of a team getting the checkered flag numerous times and burning up one motor home along the way.
Surviving are his wife Bette Wilcox Irwin, whom he married June 25, 1965; two daughters BJ (Sal) Bounaiuto and Anna (Scott) Dibble all of Lakewood; loving grandchildren Jake (Abby Anthony) Tota, Brea (Cade Poston) Tota, Luke Tota, Alanna Dibble and Kylee Dibble; and great grandson Landon Tota; siblings Lloyd "Butch" Irwin, Florence Miller, Doris Samuelson, Barry (Pat) Irwin, Ron (Kathie) Irwin, Camille (Bob) Guinanne, Vicki (Christy) Zezzo, and Kent (Julie) Wilcox plus his many nieces and nephews with whom he shared his quirky sense of humor.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his in-laws George and Eleanor Wilcox, a brother Roger and two sisters Eva May and Carol Ann Irwin.
In keeping with Dave's wishes no funeral service or visitation will be observed. Following the years after his accident, he enjoyed the company of those who came to visit, play cards and share a laugh.
Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 West Fairmount Ave. Lakewood, NY 14750 and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
