Obituary of Barbara Ann Andersen

Barbara Ann Andersen, 82, of Lakewood, NY, formerly of Hamburg, NY and Dorchester, MA, passed away Sunday December 1, 2019 in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born October 13, 1937 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Paul and Ivyl Peterson Young. Barbara was a 1955 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Strong Memorial School of Nursing in Rochester. She had worked in Banking in Jamestown, Boston, MA, and Hamburg, NY and also as an aide at the Hamburg Central Pre-School. She was a long time member of the Sweet Adelines in Hamburg, the Bemus Point Women's Golf League, and sang in the church choir. Surviving are her husband S. Walter Andersen whom she married July 19, 1958 in Jamestown; a daughter, Dr. Holly Andersen-Hirsch (Douglas) of New York City; daughter in law, Susan Sara Andersen of Warren, NJ; five grandchildren: Kelsey, Kaitlyn, and Kyle Andersen of Warren, NJ; and Alison and Gregory Hirsch of NYC. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Scott Andersen who died September 4, 2010. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, WNY Chapter, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221-7383.
