Obituary of Edna R. Liden

Edna R. Liden, 82, of 416 South Main Street, passed away Friday December 20, 2019, in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loving family and her assisting angels of Hospice by her side. Born June 4, 1937,in Jamestown, the middle daughter of three, to Michael and Minnie Mae Catanese Licals. Widow of Donalf A. Liden, whom she married June 15, 1957 and who passed away on July 5, 1998. She and Don and their family enjoyed traveling to Key West, FL, a place that was near and dear to her heart. Edna and Don spent their newly married years residing in Key West when Don was stationed there while active in the US Navy. Edna enjoyed spending time tending to her butterfly garden and the vast amount of angels she had collected through the years. She would, at times, gift one of her prized angels to someone in need. Family was very important to her and often said, "The love of family is life's greatest blessing." Just seeing her grandchildren would brighten her day and put a big smile on her face. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mom and "Granny". She enjoyed spending a lot of her time cooking and baking and making sure the holidays were special to all who joined her. Edna loved attending Chautauqua Adult Daycare services where she played cards, made crafts, exercised and reminisced about the "good old days." She made many special and dear friends at the Center including Dawn Newbree and Karen Lucks. The family wanted to express their gratitiude and love to Edna's special caregivers and Hospice "Angels." Thank you, Iva Nalbone, Jennifer Brently, Tenille Zebrowski, Jesse Jones-RN, Julie Nagle-social worker and the DeMarco sisters Vicky, MaryJo and Rosa. She was a longtime member of Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are three children Donna (David) Warner of Jamestown, Diane "Dee Dee" ( companion Kenny Williams) Liden of Jamestown and Donald K. (Debra) Liden of Jamestown; two grandchildren Zachary Liden and Chelsea (Brad) Jackson; great granddaughter Aubrey Marie Woodard; a sister Virginia McKotch of Kennedy and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews including her very special niece "Little Sister" Carla Stringer, with whom she had a beautiful bond and also Annie Genco-Carlson who was like a daughter to Edna. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by twin grandsons Andrew and Matthew Marucci and a sister Verna Piazza. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday January 5, 2020, in Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received in fellowship hall of the church following the service.
