Obituary of Eleanor M. Lindfors
Eleanor Marie Lindfors, 88, of 142 Colfax St., passed away peacefully and went to be with Jesus at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, in the Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing Facility in Bemus Point, N.Y.
Eleanor was born on Jan. 5, 1931, in Jamestown, N.Y., to the late Herbert W. Freeburg and Olivia M. Olson Freeburg. She was a lifelong area resident of Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1949.
Eleanor loved singing in the Mozart Club, the oldest music club in New York State, as well as First Covenant choir. She was a long-standing member of First Covenant Church of Jamestown, N.Y. As a child, Eleanor accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church. She loved the Lord all her life and served as a prayer warrior, remembering family and friends in her daily prayers for many, many years. She was gifted with a phenomenal memory, which not only enabled her to bring specific prayer requests before the Lord but also to enjoy reminiscing with her friends and loved ones about all they had experienced together throughout their lives.
Eleanor dearly loved her family. Surviving are two sons Rev. David W. (Janice) Lindfors of Rockford, Ill., and Daniel B. (Patricia) Lindfors of Jamestown, N.Y.; a daughter Suzanne M. (Dewey) Landon of Little Egg Harbor, N.J.; a niece Ann Wiltsie Lanzel of Lander, Pa.; a nephew John Wiltsie of Marion, N.C.; five grandchildren Heather Anne Applegate of Arlington Heights, Ill., Jeffery David Lindfors of Rockford, Ill., Ryan Daniel Lindfors of Jamestown, N.Y., Katie Marie Landon and Melissa Joy Landon both of Wilmore, KY; two step-grandsons Scott L. Harding of Jamestown, N.Y., and Todd P. Harding of Fort Mill, N.C.; and four great grandchildren.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years Harry L. Lindfors, whom she married on Aug. 4, 1951; her parents, Herbert and Olivia Olson Freeburg; a sister, Thelma Webster; a brother, Edward Thomas Freeburg, who died in infancy; and a nephew, Paul Wiltsie.
Eleanor's immediate family celebrated her life during a private service officiated by Pastor Adam Rohler at Lind Funeral Home in Jamestown, on Saturday, Jan. 4, at 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First Covenant Church Memorial Fund, 520 Spring St. Jamestown, N.Y., 14701.
"But I don't want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descent from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with these words." - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
