Obituary of Sandra A. Robinson
Sandra Ann Washington Robinson, 72, formerly of 915 Washington St., passed away peacefully on Friday, January17, 2020 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing in Jamestown.
She was born in Jamestown on April 20, 1947, a daughter of the late Cleveland and Trudy Washington. She was also preceded in death by her biological mother, Maybelle Poindexter of Franklin, Pa.; a sister, Tracey Daniels; and twin nieces, Kesha and Keanda.
Sandra was a beautiful songbird and loving mother who enjoyed singing and writing music. She rendered her gifts with the Jamestown High School A Cappella Choir, where she graduated in 1965, as well as Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was also a pianist.
Following high school, Sandra continued her singing aspirations and was able to sing with some of Motown's greatest artists and music legends. She eventually started her own singing group called 'Gods Love', as she was dedicated to the Lord and loved the soul of gospel music.
Outside of her passion for music, she enjoyed learning new things which led her to attend college, majoring in psychology. It was during the course of her studies that she formed a friendship that led to her union with Allan Robinson, Sr. From that union came Allen Robinson, Jr. and Diane Robinson. After that union ended, Sandra welcomed Joseph S. Austin III into her life.
Sandra was a dedicated mother and continued to care for her children while staying active in her church and her community, never forgetting her first love, music. She passed on this love of music to her children and their offspring. She will be remembered for her larger than life charisma, a smile that could brighten up anyone's day, her beautiful soul, and her voice - that of an angel.
Her legacy will continue by her children: Joseph S. Austin III, Allan Robinson, Jr. and Diane Robinson-Wiley; her grandchildren: Brienna Hall, Porche Hall, Madris LaBeach, Jesika Hodge, Izonna Austin, Allan Robinson III, Kira Christensen, Jamira Austin, Rodney Hayes and Christian Hubbard; and her great-grandchildren: London Morrison, Ziyaray Garcia, Roy LaBeach III and Lia Hodge. Also surviving are Sandra's brothers, Mark and Timothy Daniels and sisters, Melanie Richburg, Kathie Nolen and Deidre Stoll.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Leroy Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service in the funeral home.
