Obituary of David H. Cobbe

David H. Cobbe of 161 Barrett Ave., passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, one day following his 70th birthday. He was born in Jamestown on January 27, 1950 and was the son of Walter Cobbe and the late Myrtle Spinler Cobbe Penhollow. A Sergeant, he served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 with duty in both Vietnam and Cambodia. In August of 1998, he was the recipient of New York State's Conspicuous Service Award by then Governor George Pataki. Prior to retirement, David had been employed by Naco Express for over 20 years, and had formerly worked for Valley Industries and Flickengers. David was a devoted New York Yankees fan, with a highlight coming Memorial Day Weekend of 2018 when he was recognized as the 'Veteran of the Game' at home plate in Yankee Stadium. He always took great pride in and never missed his grandchildren's events. Surviving is his wife, Constance Christner Cobbe, whom he married April 6, 1974; a daughter, Jennifer (Rob) Johnston of Falconer and sons, Mark (Stephanie) Cobbe of Sugar Grove and Matthew (Michelle) Cobbe of Falconer; and five grandchildren: Cassie Mosher, John Mosher, Erica Cobbe, Mason Cobbe and Alyse Cobbe. Also surviving are two brothers, Daniel Cobbe of Gerry and Thomas (Beth) Cobbe of Dewittville; as well as his sister- and brother-in-law, Candy and John Johnson and their three daughters, Melissa Updike, Jessica Dockwiller and Mandi Fisher. He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle in 2017 and by his step-father, Jim Penhollow in 2005. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Tara Lamont Eastman will officiate. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc., P.O.
