My connection with Joe Edwards began in 1983 when we worked together in the Insurance Industry. He at Chautauqua Patrons and I at Chautauqua Claim Service Inc. We serviced all of Patrons claims as part of our business. I learned to appreciate Joe with his humor and wry smile. He was a mentor as well in the realities of the "legalese" of the various Insurance Policies and forms. After my retirement in 2003 I began working Hurricanes and was called to Katrina in 2005. We stopped At Joe's office on our way out of town and after taking care of business Joe and Brenda gave us a very nice donation for is to assist those who had lost so much. This allowed us to give the children of some of the victims small stuffed animals that brought great smiles to their faces. It made us wish that somehow Joe and Brenda could have shared in that part, too. ~~ Joe Edwards will be missed. May he rest in Peace and may his family and friends have Peace, Comfort and Assurance in the Blessed Hope of the Resurrection promised to all who trust in Jesus. ~~ He shall not slumber long!

Jean, Family and Chautauqua Friends,
I am very sorry to hear about Joe. Serving on the Board of NYIA with him and developing a friendship for over 40 years was my privilege. I enjoyed getting to know both you and him and looked forward to the next story he had to tell. Not only was he a business associate but I also considered him a friend. I'll never forget that smile he always had when I saw him.

I first met Joe and Jean approx 5 yrs ago when I purchased my house from them. From the very first meeting I new we would become friends. I was brand new to our small town and they made sure I felt welcome. Joe was always stopping by on his cart checking on me to see if we were ok. He'd always ask about " my boy" as he spoke of my son Ryder. Always giving that big old smile and a chuckle. He and my Dad, and Aunts went to school together here at Panama Central. My Dad would occasionally meet him at the Diner for breakfast and catching up. It was always nice to see them at church. It was Jean that coaxed me in to venturing over to Panama United Methodist and getting to know my neighbors through our fellowship. Jeff and Brenda have been a saving grace for me as a single mom. They welcomed me day 1 with flowers as neighbors to J. Edwards insurance. They obviously got their dad(father in laws) Joe's friendly, neighborly attributes. My heart breaks for the family's great loss. And our towns icon. Rest in peace Joe...you were so very loved!

Please accept my most sincere condolences for the loss of this good man. I have many memories of my times with the Edwards family from church on Sunday mornings to learning to water Ski at Findley Lake to tossing hay bales on the farm to skiing at the Peak where Joe got me a pair of rental skis one evening when I broke mine. I'm sorry that I cannot attend the funeral at this time but you will all be in my thoughts on Saturday even though I won't be there.

I remember going down the road and around the corner to visit Joe and the Edwards family in Findley Lake at their cottage when I was growing up. Boating , fishing and skiing (both water and snow) together created lifelong memories. I’ll always remember listening to Joe and my Dad sharing fishing stories and both men laughing so hard we would all laugh with them. Joe was such a sweet, special man. My hugs and condolences to Jean, Brenda, Greg and the entire Edwards family.

Memories of Joe Edward reach back to 1983 when I was associated with Chautauqua Patrons Insurance Company serving them as President and General Manager of Chautauqua Claim Service and servicing their claims for several years. I learned to value him as an associate and friend during that time. After my retirement we were called to serve in Louisiana assisting in the processing of the voluminous claims produced by Hurricane Katrina. Before we left Chautauqua County for Louisiana, we stopped at Joe's office to settle some business. While there, Joe and Brenda and the staff made a nice donation for the people that we would be serving as a result of this major storm. That donation allowed us to give many stuffed animals to the children of people who had lost everything! It was a joy to see the smiles on the faces of these children as the reached out to take those little tokens of love and care. ~~ Joe will be missed. As he rests from his labors we also ask that the family and friends he leaves behind receive Grace, Peace and Comfort in the Blessed Hope we have looking forward to and hasting the Coming or Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Words seem too small to express the sadness I feel about Joe’s passing. What an incredible soul Joe was! He leaves behind so many special memories and a legacy of love. I am honored and blessed to have known Joe & Jean for the past 18 years. Joe was truly a blessing in my life! He was always smiling and had such wonderful stories to share. I truly enjoyed hearing about all his adventures. He touched the lives of so many, in such wonderful ways. He was an amazing man. I always looked forward to and treasured my visits with Joe & Jean. I will miss him dearly. Remembering Joe’s wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace and live on within our memories. My deepest condolences to Jean, Brenda, Jeff, Gregory and the rest of Joe’s family and friends. May love and memories we have of Joe bring us comfort and the courage to face the difficult days ahead! Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
