Obituary of Fannie D. Morgante
Fannie D. Morgante, 92, of 220 Southwestern Dr., Lakewood, formerly of 3746 Baker St. Ext., passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at UPMC Chautauqua.
She was the widow of Charles J. Morgante, Sr. whom she married September 16, 1950 and who died November 1, 2003.
Fannie was born November 30, 1927 in Falconer, NY, a daughter of the late Sam and Ramona Filutze Cirincione, and was a 1945 graduate of Falconer High School.
Prior to her marriage, she was employed by Hope's Windows. After raising her family as a full-time, stay-at-home Mom, she was employed by the Jamestown Board of Education as an attendance secretary and nurse's aide at Washington Junior High School.
Fannie was a member of St. James Catholic Church where she was a past vice president and treasurer of the Rosary Society and also served as a Eucharistic minister. She belonged to the Lakewood-Busti Senior Citizens, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and had been co-president and treasurer of the Persell PTA.
Fannie was a loving devoted wife, a caring dedicated mother and matriarch to an extensive family that loved and cherished her very much. She transmitted her love of baking and gardening to her family.
When asked what were the happiest moments of her life she said "giving birth to her children". And when asked what were her greatest accomplishments in life, she would respond "my children all growing up and being successful with their lives".
Fannie will be greatly missed.
Surviving are two daughters: Mary (Paul) DeLand of Madison, NY and Joanne Morgante (Sergio Montefusco) of Rome, Italy; and three sons: Sam (Peggy) Morgante of Potomac, MD, Charles (Jackie) Morgante, Jr. of Buffalo, NY and Daniel (Laurie) Morgante of Orlando, FL.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Aaron (Sarah), Adam (Ashley) and J. Drew DeLand, Samuel (Sonia), Matthew (Stefje), Nathan, Rachel and Brittany Morgante, and Kellie (Zach) Rios; five great-grandchildren: Charles and Catie DeLand, Sylvia and Nora Morgante, and Braxton DeLand; one sister, Sister Philip Marie Cirincione of Clarence, NY; and her special cousin, Donny Cusimano, who helped and cared for Fannie in many ways.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin DeLand in 1995; three brothers: Joseph, Philip and James Cirincione; and a sister, Genevieve Songer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 18 at St. James Catholic Church. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received Monday from 3 to7 p.m. in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 6:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Sisters of St. Joseph, Clarence Residence, 4975 Strickler Rd., Clarence, NY 14031.
