Obituary of Charles E. Lord
Charles E. Lord, 88, of Ashville, NY passed away Sunday February 16, 2020 surrounded by his family at UPMC Hamot Hospital.
A lifelong area resident, he was born July 13, 1931 in Blockville, NY the son of the late John and Edith Simmes Lord.
In 1949, Charles joined Company E, 174th Infantry Regiment, 27th Division of the New York National Guard.
For many years, he worked at the former Green Brother's Lumber and retired from Marlin Rockwell/SKF Bearings. Following retirement, Charles worked at Cummins Engine. He was a member of the Faith Bible Church in Warren, PA. He enjoyed woodworking, and danced with the Chautauqua Squares for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Crandall Lord; three sons: Randy (Katy) Lord and Scott (Sheila) Lord both of Ashville; Greg (Marlane) Lord of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Lisa (Gordon) Scott of Jamestown; eight grandchildren: Benjamin, Sabrina, Christy, Catherine, Craig, Nathan, Ashley, and Tyler; several great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley (the late Clayton) Whitton of Jamestown; two brothers: Melvin (Ellen) Lord of Ashville, and Richard (Joyce) Lord of Pittsfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lord; and three sisters, Joyce Wells, Doris Lutz, and Norma Catanese.
A memorial service and visitation will be announced at a later date by the Lind Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Panama Fire Department 27 Main Street, Panama, NY 14767.
