Obituary of Barbara A. Terry
Barbara A. Terry, 88, of Jamestown, NY, formerly of Ashville, NY, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
A lifelong area resident, she was born July 27, 1931 in Blockville, NY, a daughter of the late Keyon and Ruth V. Higgs Chapman.
Before her retirement in 1993, she was a cook at the Colony Motel for 10 years. In previous years she had worked for the Colonial House and the Willow Lodge Adult Home in Chautauqua, NY.
Barb found pleasure in cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed baking homemade bread which she delighted in sharing with others.
Surviving are a son; James (Marilyn) Polley of Hawley, TX, five daughters; Susan (John) Hess of Jamestown, Ann (John) Welch of Apalachin, NY, Elizabeth Stafford of Gilbert, AZ, Deborah (Todd) Hoyt of Mesa, AZ, Joan (Mike) Kuchta of Ashville, NY, nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a brother Charles Chapman of Brocton, NY.
She was preceded in death by her husband Maurice N. Terry whom she married April 16, 1966 and who died April 21, 2005, and three brothers; Robert, Alvin and Theodore Chapman.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery at a later date.
