Obituary of Joanne B. Langham
Joanne B. Langham, 86, of Ashville, NY, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020 while at Heritage Village Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
She was born in Jamestown on February 25, 1934, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Brink Blanchard.
Joanne was a graduate of Chautauqua High School and earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Buffalo State and Fredonia State College. She had been a teacher at Chautauqua Elementary and Frewsburg Central School.
Joanne was a board member of the Ashville Free Library and served as a volunteer there for many years.
Always a crafter, Joanne loved quilting and attending quilting retreats. She had made many beautiful quilts for family and friends alike and touched many lives through teaching classes at The Calico Cat Quilt shop in Lakewood, NY.
She is survived by three children, Ned, Anne (Steve) and Larry; three granddaughters, Claire, Sarah and Grace; and a sister, Dorothy Scolton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Langham whom she married June 28, 1957 and who died January 5, 2016; her stepmother, Helen Blanchard; and three sisters, Edith Swanson, Janice Blanchard and Nancy Lehr.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced by the Lind Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ashville Free Library, 2200 N. Maple Ave., Ashville, NY 14710.
