Dear Debbie, Mark & Beth, thinking of you with deep sympathy as you mourn the loss of your dad. Uncle Harold was very kind to me and made a point of interacting with all us kids, taking an interest in our lives and accomplishments. I’ll remember him most for his ready smile and quick wit. I hope can join you for a memorial service to celebrate his life later in the year. Love, Tanya Van Order

As a fellow member of Immanuel during my childhood, I have memories of the kind Olson family. In later years, I would see Harold on occasion at Lutheran Social Services where he always had a smile on his face. I am sincerely sorry for your loss.

I want to express my sincere condolences to all of Harold's family. Harold, or Shorty as my Dad called him, was a very dear friend of my Dad, Stew Snyder. Harold played with my Dad in his big band for many years and then took over the band when my Dad finally felt it was time to retire. When my Dad was a patient at The Lutheran, Harold was one of his faithful visitors and always brought Dad some chocolate of some kind - my Dad's favorite food!! We all loved Harold and Florence when wives and family used to get together wherever the band was playing. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all in the days and weeks ahead. May God give you His peace and comfort.

Mark,
So sorry for your loss. I did not know your Dad and hope your relationship was good. In that case, you were blessed to have him for so long. Tom had the pleasure of meeting him at Lutheran when your Mom was there, and they had a wonderful conversation about music. You can even ask Kathleen Wefing how much her Dad loves music. peace.

From your cousin Diane, and family Don, Brent, and Jason: your obituary was spot-on! Our fondest memories of your dad and grandfather were of him marching proudly in the Memorial Day parade, demonstrating how Mogul prevented nails from rusting, and of course his music. Until very recently, Don enjoyed sharing jokes via email. And I personally will always love him for the awesome care he gave my beloved Auntie Flo. Love, Diane

So many great memories playing in the Harold Olson Big Band. He had such a great rapport with musicians, which is not easy! It was tough to say “no” to Harold because of the way he interacted with people. I’m grateful for the opportunities he provided for us to practice our craft. Peace to Harold and his family.
